Submission Guidelines for Northwest Boulevard

We are now accepting original poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, art, graphic art and photography for the 2011 publication of Northwest Boulevard.

Guidelines:

1.)    Author must be a current or former undergraduate student of Eastern Washington University.  This includes accredited    alumni.
2.)    Submissions must be previously unpublished.
3.)    Each submission is limited to a maximum of 5,000 words.  Please type word count on the first page of prose submissions.  Submissions must be typed: please double-space prose; poetry may be single-spaced.
4.)    Visual submissions must be submitted electronically (at least 300 DPI).
5.)    Please include a cover sheet with your name, current contact information, a title-list of all submissions, and which genre (poetry, fiction, or nonfiction) you wish each piece to be considered for.

Where to submit:

•  E-mail submissions to nwblitmag@gmail.com
•  Or deliver hard copies to our office, PUB 219.  Manuscripts will not be returned.

Submission Deadline: February 25, 2011

On average we publish 4-6 prose pieces and 15-20 poems.

*Editing Process:  Northwest Boulevard operates using a blind-editing process: personal information is removed from manuscripts before genre editors read them.  We read all submissions with care and respect, and we choose manuscripts that display fresh language, original style, and intriguing subject matter.  We reserve the right to edit manuscripts as we see fit (with approval from the author), and we welcome correspondence in this activity.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail us or stop by our office (see website for office hours: northwestboulevard.com).
